Science FOSS kits

I have been teaching 5th grade now for going on my 4th year. I use the FOSS kit for Mixtures and Solutions. Our district bought use a book that had extra readings and activities that we could do with our students. I have
also found some Magic School Bus videos that I show. I type up questions around the video so that the students have to pay attention and use these as a grade. I also have found some science resource books from The Mailbox that I use in my science kits as well. You can go on line and research a virtual field trip or just some web sites that your kids could learn from. Make up a hot sheet(

A list of web sites with questions that the students have to go to the web sites to find the answers) and turn the worksheet in for a grade. I also give quizzes over the vocabulary and concepts being taught. Since I have been using the science kits now for three years going on four I have gotten a lot of resouces that I use to add to the activites that the science kits give. I went to my local teacher store and hunted for anything that I could find that would help me in whatever kit I was using. I only use the FOSS kit listed above the others one are Smythsonian Kits that our district uses. I hope this helps you out some. If you have any other questions I would be happy to help.
