blends By kasey

I taught a 1/2 blend last year in a primary school with all 1/2 blends. We did a lot of teaming activities. We levelled for reading and math. Other than that, we stayed with our own kids. It was truly a blend, not a split.| I would have the olders journal, while the youngers did calendar. Writing workshop worked well for writing times, but it was frustrating dealing with the huge range of abilities. I was all set to do it again next year with no complaints; but I've been trasferred to our sister elementary school to teach a straight 3rd. My 2nd graders were thrilled, but my 1st graders were sad; I | | must have done something right! I think a 2/3 blend would be easier, because they can all (mostly) read. Especially if there is no opportunity for levelling. Good luck!
