Educational changes By Debbie

I think education is on a conservative swing at this point. Partially has to do with the political climate, Sept. 11 certainly didn't help. While the ideal would be to support each child's individual interests, talents,| and growth, we (some in the ed. community) seem to be embracing some very interesting practices and materials to achieve this...more districts going for a 'standardized curriculum', more scripted programs, a call for less theory and more content in the teacher's education programs...all these things add up to a bland, middle of the road stance where we teach to the average of the class. | | There is NO way to facilitate life long learners with this agenda. Fortunately, not everyone's following... I've been teaching for 22+ years in PHX, AZ...If you have questions, please email or post. ;-D
