Master's
By Julie K

Clip to ScrapBook
In Massachsetts, you are required to get your Masters within the first five years of employment. In addition, you must pass the teacher exam before obtaining certification.

It depends on what district you work for in regards to pay increases. Everything here in MA is organized by district (city or town), not by county. For most districts, pay does increase significantly when you get your Masters. I am a fifth year teacher and just obtained my Masters (just in the nick of time). My pay goes up approximately $5000. So for the $15,000 it cost....the increase is well worth it!! (NOT!)
