Masters a Must in New York
By Joy

Clip to ScrapBook
In order to keep your teaching certificate in New York State, a teacher must obtain his/her Masters Degree within 5 years if he/she has been hired within the public school system or 10 years if he/she does not have a permanent job.

Some districts will completely pay for your Masters. Others will give you compensation for all of the credits that you have earned. Upon completion of the Masters degree, my district will add $600 to your salary. It's not much, but I guess it adds up over the years.

Are there other states that require a Masters degree for teachers? Just curious!
