character, setting, and problem
By Wynona

Clip to ScrapBook
I will write a character, setting, and problem on the board and the students then write a story using those elements. They are instructed to think of their own solution to the problem. I usually use elements that aren't predictable, such as a horse, in the woods, lost money/treasure. They can add characters and name them. My fourth graders really enjoyed this.
