before I started teaching everyone told me how tough these kids would be and how they would laugh at my little prizes. Honestly, these kids work so hard to earn prizes that their behavior overall improves. Some people (non teachers) have commented to me that I have to bribe them to be good. But my opinion is, if you work hard you deserve to be rewarded. You may have to change the type of rewards for 6th grade (i don't really know) but I know my class from last year (kids that will be entering 6th grade in September) would come to my classroom all the time to help me with things and they were still happy when I gave them a little treat.
