b & d

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but we teach using the D'Nealian alphabet rather than a standard block alphabet. Therefore, we say the /b/ is the "boy with a belly", while the /d/ because it is written with that little "tail" on the back is referred to as his "dog". Unfortunately the typeface used on the board doesn't help with the description I gave, but if you use D'Nealian, you'll understand.
I know that there are other "tricks" out there too, but this is the one I remember.
