I saw a cute idea for a bulletin board using cut-outs of baseball caps and the title is "recapping the 5th grade" (or whatever grade) with a pennant looking flag. You put a subject on each cap, separate the hats with lines (radiating out from the pennant) and have the kids write down things they learned in the area around it. For example: have a cap with science on it and they write layers of earth, plants, ecology, energy, life, inventors, science fair projects, etc... I know it's intended for the end of the year, but I still thought I'd mention it! It was in the Mailbox magazine Superbook (5th grade), if it's easier to see it.
