split
By J/IA

Clip to ScrapBook
I have taught a 3/4 split for several years. I enjoyed everything about it EXCEPT the pressure I received from curriculum administration about remembering to "cover" everything for every child. In my opinion, that is a perspective that puts curriculum ahead of children. My belief is that we teach CHILDREN, not curriculum!

I ditto everything about the last response. It is quite time-consuming to create your combined curriculum, but by far worth it (in my opinion). Look at the big picture--try not to see them as this grade or that grade, but just as individuals in your class with these strengths and these needs. Good luck! Don't forget, you teach CHILDREN, no curriculum. Enjoy them!
