5th grade science ideas
By Jolene

Clip to ScrapBook
It depends on what your state's standards are. In my 5th grade class we covered the solar system with the students creating a 3D model of the sun and a paper model that represented the relative sizes of the planets, etc. We also studied the Earth's composition and drew pictures of the different layers. Compounds and formulas included our making brownies to illustrate compounds and fruit salad for mixtures. Force and motion were learned via Hot Wheels cars on various surfaces as well as a balloon race car (detailed in another posting on this board). We also worked with making our own "rockets" using alka-seltza and film canisters.

Any questions, email me.
