benchmarks

I am not familiar with the term "framework". My understanding of the term "benchmark" is in reference to achieveing goals, such as on a child's IEP (Individual Education Program). The IEP has a general goal (Tommy will learn the alphabet) which is achieved by meeting a series of benchmarks: 1)Tommy will recognize the letters in his name. 2)T will recognize the uppercase letters: A to M. 3)T will recognize the up letters N to Z.
