I hope you're right! Let us know for sure when they contact you. As to benefits, mine were available immediately upon the first day of my contract. There should be a benefits person at your district office. As soon as you sign a contract you can contact them and ask those questions. In fact, if it's a big district they probably will have an orientation meeting where you'll get all the information you could ever want about such matters.
