Red and Blue Cups with Craft Sticks
By J

Clip to ScrapBook
I have two plastic cups (like you use at picnics) one is blue and the other is red. The red one is labeled "Hot Lunch" and the blue is labeled "Brought Lunch". Each child has his/her name on a craft stick and the sticks
are lined up alphabetically in front of the two cups. Each morning after they put their coats away, the children put their namestick in the appropriate cup.

For attendance, I just look to see which namesticks are left out, check to make sure it wasn't simply forgotten, and then have a child count the # of sticks in the hot lunch cup. (This is one of our class jobs.) After the lunch

count, I put all the sticks in one cup and use the namesticks for calling on children. This way I never pick a stick of a student that is absent!

At the end of the day a student lines the sticks up in alphabetical order (another class job). This worked really well and set up was minimal and inexpensive.
