Renee, I used the word block last year and at the end of the year I gave my kids a spelling test on 40 of the word wall words to see how many of them they knew(I didn't do all 40 at once though.They did very well on the test I gave. What I did for spelling last year was I dictated sentences using word wall words 3 times a week. I think next year I am going to use six word wall words along with words from what we are studying for spelling tests. I am trying different things to see what works. Good Luck!
