Yes you do need to get your Master's in education if you want to get the pay raises that go along with the Master's or at least you have to in my district.

Do you enjoy teaching special ed? What are your options in a special ed Master's? If you do enjoy teaching special ed then go for the master's in special ed. If not then look at something else,

I'd check out what the Master's options are....they may be limited....or not....or may be in an area you aren't interested in. My Master's is in learning disabilities but there were many choices. What area of special ed do your interests lie?
