Books for middle school By Peggy

I work in a public school library that serves K-12th grade and have learned a lot about books these past 4 years. I have also read many of the books in our library because I love being able to reccomend them to the students.| First, I would say get a list of the Corretta Scott King award books. This is a list of books that are about African-American students and cover a wide range of the culture and history of African-Americans. They are excellant books and are all on a middle school level (5th -8th grade). I would also suggest you look at books on the Newberry Award list and the Texas Bluebonnet Award list. | | These lista contain books at all reading levels. You might try these titles as well: The Midwife's Apprentice by Karen Cushman, Hatchet by Garry Paulsen, The Coffin Quilt by Anne Rinaldi, Ghost Canoe by Will Hobbs, the "Alice" series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, the Chip Hilt Sports Series by Coach Clair Bee, I could go on and on! I hope this small list helps. Happy reading!
