I believe that you need to find a middle-ground.
Not full interview suit, but not field day clothes either. Wear a Spring/Summer outfit that is casual yet dressy. You can always put it on after the field day. Ex. A dress or outfit that you would wear for awards day, meeting parents, being observed in etc...
