Clip to ScrapBook
My staff had a study group on this book. We have found it extremely helpful in working to understand the place from where our urban and impoverished families come to us each day. She offers excellent background as well as practical directions to go from there that can help facilitate teaching these children some of the necessary thinking skills that will help them succeed in the academic world. It is also helpful in communicating and relating to the families, understanding differences and so forth. I rank this book up there in my top ten professional books. There is a lot of overlap between this book and other cognitive education/ thinking skills curriculums.
