Reading Strategies

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi all,
Interesting question...there are many possible answers. Everyone coming into our profession has had experiences that shape the way they view teaching and learning. Regardless of whether you have the most innovative
teachers for your methods classes and a wonderful role model for your student teaching, people still tend to gravitate toward where they feel comfortable. In order to truly learn something, you must be out of your comfort zone, and for many people that's too risky a place to be.
It doesn't help that textbook publishers have also given the subliminal message that their materials
were developed by the 'experts'. They're comprehensive, easy to use (in some cases entirely scripted), and require little to no additional teacher preparation. And you get good test scores in many cases...Why reinvent the wheel??? ;-D
