Clip to ScrapBook
diversity among shoes these days with the young ones is limited so bring some "ringers" from home to add to each group's pile. A red high heel, a sandal, clog, whatever wierd and wacky slipper you can find in your closet...the kids will love to see what their teacher wears or used to wear away from the classroom setting...just don't overdo it or you'll never settle them down again!

Also, with the "example" sorting you could write the first names of your students on card stock strips and have the students group by "same" initial letters, or same number of letters in the name, same number of syllables, etc. Let the students "discover" the way to group the names.
