Congratulations on the baby! Your life is going to drastically change in a wonderful way! I know exactly how Lianne feels, too. I teach in Saskatchewan, and I can also take up to a year with 55% salary. I also receive a top-up (to 95%)from my employers for 9 weeks. Do you get anything like that, Lianne? I went back when my children were 4 months old, and my husband stayed home for the balance of a year, on a parental leave (with 55% salary). While I used to be involved in almost everything extracurricular at school, I now refuse to do anything after school. This winter, I was doing activities at | | noon 4 days out of 5. The fifth was for meetings and such. I try to bring the majority of my homework home, so that I can spend after school with my daughters, and go back to teacher stuff when they are in bed. A few times a year, we have to work in the evenings (parent-teacher interviews, open house, meet the teacher, Christmas concert...). I find I really resent these, as I like being home to tuck in. It can be quite the compromise, but make sure you put your child first. Best of luck! D.
