Sports Fun
By Krissy

Clip to ScrapBook
WELCOME BULLETIN BOARD: "Batter Up For A Great Year!" Make a green baseball diamond and put each students name on a little baseball.

BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT: Put up a small basektball hoop and get a little foam ball. Choose
someone to take a shot for trasitions, good hallway behavior, etc. (My cooperating teacher did this in 4th, and the kids LOVED it, they earned points for the shots and were trying to see who could get the most points by the end of the year).

Time out area: Put a desk off by itself for students who need a moment to themselves. Call it "THE PENALTY BOX"

READING CORNER: "HAVE A

BALL! READ A GOOD BOOK!" Put a couple of bean bags in that look like soccer balls or basketballs (I have seen these at Wal-Mart)

JOB CHART: "Helping Out Hits A Home Run!" Put jobs on baseball gloves and students names on baseballs, rotate baseballs to change jobs.

CLASS REWARD/GOAL: Put up a large paper goal post and a foot kicking a football, move the ball up a certain amount for each point earned, aim for the goalpost. When it reaches the goal post, the class gets some designated reward. "Kicking Off A Great Year with Teamwork!" OR Make a small runner (use computer clip-art) and put a finish line on one end of the board, you could just move it with a magnet and start over when the goal is reached.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Call them your M.V.P. Give them a little paper trophy certificate.

STUDENT GROUPS: If students sit in groups, they could each select a team mascot for their group and compete against each other in classroom games.

MORNING WORK: Call it the "Kickoff" to start the day.

WORD WALL: Put words on paper baseballs, soccer balls, basketballs, etc.
