Field Day
By Helen

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach first now but have taught second and done field days with them....Sack races are fun (get pecan sacks from Farm supply stores),
Old Clothes relays (run down put on big oversized pants, shirt and brogans, run back
take them off, teammate puts them on and runs to end, takes them off etc.)Water relay (two buckets per team and big car washing sponges) fill first bucket or trashcan w/ water. Child souses the sponge in the water, runs to empty bucket and squeezes the water into it, runs back and hands sponge off to next runner, who repeats that performance. Winning team has most water in the bucket
when all have gone.
Hula hoop contests..see who can keep them going the longest.
bubblegum... bubble blowing contests, see who can blow the biggest bubble.
Egg and spoon done with plastic spoons and golf balls.
Backwards relays...student must walk backward to the goal line and back or crabwalk, or wheelbarrow (two students)
Broad jumps...ise jumpropes placed about 1 foot apart, class walks over..not stepping between. After whole group goes over, move the last rope about 6 inches..let them pass again, then move it another six inches...if they miss and step between ropes they are out. give them room to begin to run and jump....last one without a miss is the winner.
we sometimes selected certain kids or had them sign up for certain activities so that they didn't take soooooo long with all doing each thing. Those not participating at the time cheered their teammates on.
Hope this helps!
