I would not overreact to her having you doing her busy work. We are basically a free teacher's aide for them. Having you supervise outside is usual. In my last student teaching I always did PE and my master teacher rarely| came out during that time. It is hard to find one on one time with your teacher. I am with my third teacher and my first and third were always busy. I would go in with some questions prepared. What are your expectations of a student teacher? What can you the student teacher expect to be doing as you progress in the classroom? If you do not feel it is a good match I would talk to | |
your university about it NOW. In my first assignment I felt fine, then things got shakey, and when I had a week and a half left she kicked me out and I had to start from the beginning again! Talk to people and see if there is a teacher anyone highly recommends. Otherwise, be positive everyday, do any and all things they give you with a smile. Remember it is her classroom and you are not the star, you are there to learn. If they are too controlling over their classroom though you will not get all you should out of it. I hope this helps.
