Summer Curriculum

Hi Julie,
Some suggestions...90 minutes should give you time to do at least two small groups each day plus some running records. Also, some word work which will be needed, I'm sure. Try starting with Independent Reading
for 15 minutes when they first walk in (while you do two running records), then a Reading Mini lesson (10-15 minutes on a reading strategy, you may only get to one or two of these, but you'd do better to focus on the most critical ones, based on their needs than trying to cover them all). Do one group (guided at their instructional levels for 20 minutes), then a mini lesson in Language
and Word Study (10-15 minutes) then your second guided group. While you're working with a small group, the others are reading, writing a thoughtful response to what they're reading (once a week is minimum), or doing word work. Between GR & W and MOT (or Strategies That Work) you'll have plenty of lessons to choose from. When I'm working on a tight schedule, I write it on the white board (the kids keep me on task!) and have everything ready before hand...Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes. ;-D
