Did the same thing. They were allowed to do any flower they chose, but it had to take up the majority of the paper, even flowing off if they wanted. We used watercolors though. They painted the flower and then all the left over background they had to paint one color. They turned out bright and beautiful. It makes for a great bulletin board.
