In my grade three class we make leprachaun traps. The children bring in outside materials to creat their traps. I solicit fromer students in 7th and 8th grade to help as this gets very busy and exciting. Prior to construction day, the students must draw their design and provide a rationale for why it wil work. At the end of the day, thfey set their traps. I turn them over etc.. stamp green shoe prints on their desks, leave pieces of gold foils wrapped candy and a note written by a leprachaune for each child. Thiey come in the next day nad it is like Christmas in March- very fun and memorable. They also write a reflection on the project for their portfolios. Have fun!
