(This is the abbreviated version of what I typed 2 times already, but that the internet decided to turn off on and the reset button decided to push down on-Excuse me but I am venting!) Betsy, congrats for being approved to do the program! I suggest that you read through the book when you get it and that you do follow the recommendations for establishing Rituals and Routines as well as a table for student materials. Guided Reading- the books used are trade books that are leveled (an index is found in the back of the GR&W book). Scholastic sells an expensive Kit that includes the leveled books, | | Assessment options, and Teachers Guides. The Teachers Guides are helpful because they give you a summary of the book, suggestions for skils to focus on, and a question or 2 that could be given as homework or as an extension. I do recommend the following resources that I have bought and borrowed. They are all helpful with Mini Lessons for the Writing Workshop as well as setting it all up! 25 Mini-Lessons for Teaching Writing by Adele Fiderer, published by Scholastic. The Reading-Writing Workshop: Getting Started by Norma R. Jackson with Paula L. Pillow, published by Scholastic. Writing WOrkshop Survival Kit by Gary R. Muschla, published by The Center for Applied Research in Education. If you would like the ISBN #s for these books feel free to email me. I hope this was helpful and not more confusing to you or anyone else! Good luck- Erica
