grouping

Clip to ScrapBook
Yes, Leigh, Elaine is right. My school groups our entire class of 4th graders into high, middle, and low ability readers. Guided reading does use grouping, however, it isn't always for ability and the groups are always changing. Sometimes they are grouped for ability, sometimes for interest, sometimes for a particular strategy, etc. The groups are very "fluid", which is, I believe, a much better way to group. I am still in the process of researching this material, so I will have lots and lots of questions myself, I'm sure! I know this board will be so much help! Thanks for your interest.
