Ability Grouping
By Elaine

Clip to ScrapBook
Leigh,
I am wondering if you are writing in response to ddd's post about wanting to break out of the ability grouping that is going on at her school I believe (although I don't presume to speak for her) that she is referring to students who are grouped according to reading levels and switch classes for reading. I think ddd is wanting to keep her students so she can individualize their instruction and meet their needs in her own classroom. My understanding of GR is that students are grouped according to level/need but groups are flexible and change often as needs change. I am not an expert on GR by any means, but I am responding to your post hoping to generate other more informed posts. It's all a bit confusing, isn't it?
Elaine
