Guided Reading in the Primary Grades
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Julie,
It's more difficult to begin the implementation process the older the students, because they're not used dialoguing about books and being responsible for their own learning. So it will take you longer to get things 'up and running' if you don't have lower grades using a similar model. I think it's great that so many of the posters on this board are intermediate teachers. For the most part, all of the primary teachers at my current school are using approaches similar to GR. So, my 3/4 Multiage students have had LOTS of experiences with good books, daily writing, etc. Best of luck, it's incredible to listen to the literature conversations and the stories they write!!! ;-D
