Good for you!

Clip to ScrapBook
Way to take the initiative! I think that so many times, we as teachers, forget that change is not always a bad thing....obviously. I would take the "piloting" approach. Explain to parents what you are doing, what the components
are, how it COULD and WILL help their child, and to be sure to ask if they have questions. Communication will be key. Also, it might be helpful to send home a survey every nine weeks asking for comments and such.
A couple of our teachers who piloted a new and non-traditional math program this year, started with a parent meeting and send letters home frequently. They just
got their surveys back and had some great feedback.
Also, be sure to be honest with your co-workers about how it is going...the goods, the improvements, and also the frustrations. One of our teachers took pictures of the students involved in their projects and put them on display in the hallway along with their work. After some of the teachers saw that, they became more interested.
Good luck! Stay strong, believe in the system!*8)
