Quiet LAB time
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi again Elaine,
Yes, I have the same difficulties with our group...and maybe it stems from the familiarity of being together for so long, feels like a family.
On the note about the time block...you shared the answer
in a previous post...integration. Our school is huge and we're on a block schedule with everyone coming and going at specified times for subject areas. So I add Science and Social Studies content (as much as possible) into my LAB time. I try to pull the groups with pull out kids when they return. This has worked well so far, since we're not following any text...it's mainly student
inquiry that drives what's happening. Best of luck. You really do need a large block of time, or things don't flow and discussions don't get the value they deserve. ;-D
