Thanks, Debbie for the framework - haven't gotten that far, but will start looking for it now. I have students in fourth grade. I noticed some improvements today (probably the cold weather that got them settled in) in their writing notebooks. They are working on author studies and were doing their KWL charts. They are pretty excited about this project, so they used the full 30 minutes to write.
I'm excited to try the author's chair! That's the next piece I want to implement.
I've been having the students hand in their journals on certain days (about five students a day) and that is working so well. Amazing how easy it is for me to get through it! It was like an "Ah-Ha!" moment.
