Revision
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Julie,
I forgot, what grade do you teach? I told my kids about hearing Mem Fox discuss her writing. She mentioned that even when her books are published and on the book shelves in stores, she is always thinking that
she could have written it better or differently. You might see what other children's authors relate about the revision process and share these thoughts with your kids. I don't have my kids revise everything, I let them choose what they'd like to continue thru the writing process and they sign up to be a part of revision conferences. Peer revision is a powerful way to get the process
going. Also, author's chair lets them see just what the other writers in the room are doing, and this may be the motivation they need to expand their repetoire! There are lots of other great books written about writing (but I know we've got LOTS to read with GR&W, but when you'd like titles, just ask.) Take care, and let us know how it's going. ;-D
