Makes sense to me!

Clip to ScrapBook
Debbie,
Hi! I sent you two emails last week and promptly got them back. (one where I simply tried to reply to your email and one where I tried to send one from here on the Boards) Is that crazy or what? I am just going
to keep in touch on the Boards -- they seem to work everytime!!!!!!!!!

I like your idea about posting the schedule. I always do that when we have a mixed up day for one reason or another. It saves time answering the questions: "What time is the assembly?" or "What is the assembly about anyway?" or "Are we going to have recess at all today?" over and over again. I think my kids

would remind me if I had it posted.

Here is one of my pet peeves: We have a strange way of dividing up our students for math and because I have one student who goes out (and none that come in), I am unable to integrate science and math. Right now it would make perfect sense because I doing a unit on matter in science. The measurement of matter could (and should) fit into our measurement unit in math. My point is there is always something that can throw a monkey wrench into the works. It's our job to make the whole thing work anyway. It's not easy, but I guess it's part of the challenge that makes me love the job!!!!!

Thanks for your advice about the literature conversations related to genre studies starting during our read-aloud and expanding to other parts of Reader's Workshop. Your advice always makes sense! Please keep it coming!

Elaine
