To Freaking Out, Anne in MS By Elaine

Anne, I couldn't help but smile a little as I read your post. I know you didn't mean for it to be funny, but I recognized myself in your venting. I know exactly what you mean about trying to get it all in and getting| off the track. What really frustrates me is that I get it all down on paper and it looks pretty good until I find out all the extra "stuff" we have to do at our school -- assemblies, health fairs, book fairs, etc. I had a wonderful writing mini-lesson and time for students to actually write all planned and in my book when the counselor comes in to announce she forgot to tell me that | | she had a session with my students that day. So there goes writing -- again!!!!!!! Right in fron of my kids I heard myself say, "No problem, we were just going to have Writer's Workshop." What kind of message did that send to my kids anyway? Talk about being frustrated with yourself!!!!!!! I want all the ideas right now too, but I think the previous poster has the right idea. Congratulate yourself on the tiny steps as you take them and don't waste energy beating yourself up!!!!!!!!!!! It's okay to vent because guess what? There is always another one or two out here just like you. We all get a lift knowing we are not alone in this crazy, wonderful teaching profession! Hang in there, Anne. If it helps to know I am often: Freaking out in MO, Elaine
