Leveling books
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi all,
Thru Guided Reading, the teacher's job is to scaffold (fancy term for support but it implies more-a Vygotsky term) the learner so a more challenging book becomes easier because of your 'guiding'. There are many purposes for choosing a guided approach, but essentially, you're wanting to see your readers practice a strategy you've modeled for them. You'd be asking the child to pick a book on his/her own level during independent reading. Does this help? I guess things should become clearer as we read and talk. ;-D
