Leveling site
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi all,
I still have serious concerns regarding the different leveling systems...I know the F & P (adapted from Reading Recovery) is difficult to do at first, but the AR levels are only leveled by syllable count...that means that a book you choose for a group may be 2 years above or below the child's level. One of our RR teachers did a correlation of books from AR and used the F & P levels. If you believe that children need to be reading at their instructional level, the AR levels just aren't accurate enough, especially for the kids you're trying to target levels on-your neediest readers. Something to think about...hope everyone's first day back from the holidays went well. ;-D
