university library or bookstore

Barb,
Do you live anywhere near any colleges with teaching programs? In Boston, classroom teachers are allowed borrowing privileges from university education libraries, and a few of the state school libraries are even part of the regional public library network. You may be able to borrow the book from one of these places for up to 2 months. Also, I have seen it used as a text in literacy and methods courses-- the second semester is starting within the next few weeks, and you may be able to pick up used and/or discounted copies at the university bookstores. Just a thought... my copy was paid for by my school's literacy grant, but I'm still waiting for the order to come in... sometimes it's just easier to take matters into your own hands... good luck...
