Yes, you can use any text for guided reading, you just need to decide on your purpose for meeting-what strategies do you intend to emphasize during the group. Also, pick and choose the 'activities' from the series, so there's more time to actually read. You could probably get thru that stuff in two days leaving you three for other books related to other curriculum (Science, Soc. Studies, etc.). Does this help? ;-D
