schedules

I had to tweak my schedule but finally realized that I had to think of SS and Sci and Health as fitting in reading and writing time. I religiously have 1 hour of reading only time, for reading novels and writing about those books. I meet with individual readers during that time. I was frustrated by the schedules in GRW, too and do have a bit less instructional time due to specials. I've decided to cut back on science and social studies content (I teach primary) and empasize reading and writing within those areas, if they get less content but can read and comprehend non-fiction then I am satisfied.
