GR & W questions
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Elaine,
Did you think I'd miss posting to you!?!?! Yes, guided reading is merely 'flying solo' with supports. See p. 40 for a definition...if you follow that, any time you're pulling a group for any strategy lesson,
whether it's for a 'learning to read' or 'reading to learn' (which means literature conversations could fall in this category if you're discussing comprehension strategies). Any text that fits the appropriate level and strategy would work.
Actually, I do have 2 1/2 hours set aside for the Language Arts block. I try to fit SS and Sci themed books in during this time, as I can
find good literature to discuss. I wish I had a full 3 hours for Word Study, Readers and Writers Workshops...my partner has taken over much of the spelling practice and some other components of LAB for me. Doing the integration web for the content areas helped me tie alot of curriculum together. Hope this helps. ;-D
