Most of the primary teachers in my building check with me first before buying any professional books...I buy books like some people buy shoes or purses!!ha!! Having taught remedial reading at primary levels for 23 years
and remedial math for 10 years, I am always ordering or buying books to get fresh ideas! I am really enjoying the discussions some of you are having...but I don't have much use for some of the flamers.... I will add my opinions from time to time. I figure having taught all these years, I might have something to add now and then.

Sounds like you have a good handle on literature circles.

I am taking reading recovery training this year and am getting into the thoughts of literacy groups. Am anxious to read, listen, and
find out more about this topic. To my knowledge no one in our district is doing much with this. Personally, I'd like to see more. Am enjoying the reading recovery training, but am NOT enjoying all the time it is taking. Besides doing that I am doing reading and math pullout programs for about 45 students grades 1 - 3. Keeps me busy, but not necessarily out of trouble!

Keep the good discussions going...
