Hi again, on the other work going on during Reader's Workshop, you would be asking the students to write one thoughtful response to a book they've read once a week...if you're looking at an assessment piece, use the Developmental Reading Assessment idea of a benchmark book at level coupled with an oral or written retelling. I went to a Reading Recovery conference last year and got to spend a day taking in lots of wonderful info from Fountas and Pinnell. If you have the chance to see them, do... For reading mini lesson possibilities, I really like Strategies That Work or Snapshots or Read Revisit Retell...Happy holidays to all...
