Literture Disussion Groups
By Samantha

Clip to ScrapBook
Elaine, boy it was good to hear from you, and I am sorry to hear about all your troubles. Starting the new year with root canal, that stinks! I hope you have a speedy recovery. Have you seen the postings from "psychologist"?
I am sure he/she would think we were crazy being up at this hour worried about meeting our student's needs.
Well, as far as Liteture Groups go you are miles ahead of me. I am going to introduce responce journals when we return from break (if anyone has any suggestions I am more than willing to have them), and I am excited about that. As far as your question about Liteture disussion
groups goes, I think the only difference is that the authors have a homogeneous group, and the text is teacher selected. Which do you prefer? I may do Guided Reading with a homogenous group and a Literture Study with a heterogeneous group. Do you think this is biting off more than I can chew?
We are also coming back to a new schedule. I arranged my day so I have the same blocks of time as the schedule on page 98. I am probably gonig to oveer load their por 4th grade minds, and they will have total melt down.
One thing I have not seen addressed in the book is homework. What kind of homework do you give, and how do you check it?
