Harvey vs. Robb
By Reading Teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi, Elaine,

Thanks for your views on Harvey's book. I may end up getting it, although for now I'll stick to
the Robb book. Taking the Reading Recovery training is taking up every free minute of my time; their guidebook
is really quite good, especialy the strategy part. But, getting back to Robb...

I like it because it is so easy to read and use and I have also been able to pull out different parts to share with parents, and some of my students. We organized a Family Literacy Fair last year and included in our handouts two pages from her book. One page is called a Reading Strategy Checklist.

It breaks down the strategies into 3 parts: those you use before reading, those you use during reading; and those you use after reading. It is written simply for just about any parent to use. We also used a page that specified at what grade level a child should be using certain strategies.

All in all, I just found these book easy to get through with a lot of good information.

Hope this helps. And, I too, am looking forward to this new discussion board. I will be visiting and sharing (hopefully) often.
