Harvey vs. Robb
By Elaine

Clip to ScrapBook
To tell you the truth, I haven't read the Robb book. We read Stephanie Harvey's book as a part of a study team we had going with 10 or so teachers at my school. I like the way Harvey divides the book into specific large strategies
and then breaks those strategies down into teachable hunks (if that makes any sense). It is a companion book (sort of) to Mosaic of Thought, and after that comes NonFiction Matters. I LOVE all three even though the only one I've read all the way through is the Strategy one.
Now does that give you the impression that I really don't know what I am talking about? If the shoe fits
. . . You may be able to find some of these books available to read on-line at Stenhouse Publishers. That's where I read chapters from NonFiction Matters.

Now you've peaked my interest, so it's your turn to convince me. What's so special about Laura Robb's book? I may have to add it to my collection. I am currently wading through Guiding Readers and Writers (gr. 3-6). Are you familiar with that book? We are trying to get some discussion going as we read the book. Join us with you expertise!

Elaine
