silly help.
By jen

Clip to ScrapBook
I made up a little chant with hand motions for my kids to do when working a problem. It is kinda dumb, but it helps them remember. We do:

Say: Step One (hold up one finger). Multiply (cross your arms to make an x) by
the ones (hold up one finger.)
Step Two (hold up two fingers). Always, always, always (wave hands from side to side) put your zero. (form an o with your fingers.)
Step Three (hold up three fingers) Multiply ((cross your arms to make an x) by the tens (hold up all ten fingers.)
Step Four (hold up 4 fingers) Add (Make a plus sign with your two pointer fingers)your (point out) PRODUCTS
(say it in a big way.)

I know it is silly, but it helped my kids remember. All I have to do is say, "Step One" and they can say the rest. Hope it helps.
